I AM BACK!!! And so Is Xmen!!!

Hello Internet!!!

What can I possibly say?? It has been so long since I last posted. Whilst taking exams, I almost forgot what the internet is....it was dreadful and now I must reteach myself how to do nothing once again! I am now revising, not for college, but how to laze around. My time is now spent reacquainting myself with lie-ins and simply being a slug. I move for food...that is about it....if it is not food, then it is not worth it...ever! ;)

Anyway, now exams are over, and my first year of college is officially finished, I can now get back to what is truly important in this world; television and films!!!

For my first review, back on the world wide web, I will discuss the newly released
X-Men: Days of Future Past!!!

This movie is awesome!! I have waited for nearly a year for this film, I am a huge geek (and extremely proud of it) for superhero franchise films; especially for the X-Men universe. This movie is really good and it met near all my expectations and hopes; even if I had been building it up for such a long time.

The premise for the movie is extremely clever and the narrative allows the audience a glimpse into both the future and the past of this created world, as the title suggests. Consequently, the cast can include both the older favourites from the original movies, as well as the more recently introduced actors/actresses from  Xmen: First Class. Sirs Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart as well as Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, JENNIFER LAWRENCE and Michael Fassbender!!! In other words, a talented cast that manage to create an awesome film (I am running out of adjectives already....my brain may be dead....so my grammar may be messed up).
All the performances are emotional and believable, even in the sometimes over the top action-filled Marvel universe.

Specifically, I was pleasantly surprised by how funny the portrayal of the character Quicksilver (Evan Peters) was. There is a particular scene that is extremely interesting and funny, both in the way the scene is shot in slow motion to present Quicksilver's super speed, and also how it uses happy and soft diegetic music, that causes the character's antics to be that more hilarious. He single handedly 'takes down' a room of guards, without needing help from the almighty Wolverine (Jackman) or the aggressive Magneto (Fassbender). Small scenes like this ensure the movie is not just another superhero movie in a long list of super-fantastic motion pictures, it is extra super-fantastic (I do not know what I am even saying anymore). However, I do have to admit I am more excited for the portrayal of Quicksilver in the upcoming, much-anticipated, Avengers 2: AGE OF ULTRON. I AM SOOO EXCITED! Quicksilver (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) and the Scarlet Witch will be making an appearance. This did occur in this film, briefly, but as alluded to in a credit scene at the end of Captain America 2: Winter Solider (if I mention anymore superhero films....I may turn into a comic book), the appearances will be more substantial in Avengers 2, with seemingly deranged characters. Elizabeth Olsen was a rather creepy Scarlet Witch in the teaser clip at the end of Captain America (try and find it and check it out).

Overall, I would give this movie a 5/5!!!

It is an extremely enjoyable movie and one that doesn't seem to happen in a flash. It is well worth a trip to the cinema. If I were to bring up any room for improvement, I would have enjoyed more scenes in the future, and a deeper insight into the struggle 'mutant-kind' faces with more than just a couple of action-packed fight scenes, that are used. Also, I would have liked to see more of the mutant Rogue (Anna Paquin) but that is just because she has one of the most interesting powers, that should have been explored, giving the fact that she volunteered for the cure in 'The Last Stand'.

Sorry for the short review, I was at a loss on what to say but, also, I did not want to give too much away. This really is an excellent movie, even for an audience whom are not religiously dedicated to superhero orientated films. This film is the epitome of a big budget, action packed film; 2 hours and 10 minutes that are far from a waste. See this movie, you will not be disappointed because Bryan Singer did an impeccable job. Yet another successful movie under Marvel's belt!

Next Review (hopefully more in depth): True Blood- final season's premiere (season 7)

Some of the cool mutants in Days of Future Past:

IT'S STORM!!! (Halle Berry) bringing the actors from the 'original' trilogy into this film! It would have been cool to see Storm more in the film, but we still get to see the raw power which has influenced her namesake!

JENNNNIIIIFFFFEEERRR LAAAWWWRENNNCCCEEE!! And breathe...... Mystique is pivotal to the narrative of the film and it is really interesting how she is linked to the sentinel program, maybe the sole reason that the future is so bleak for mutants. Watch the movie and watch her kick some butt (as usual). It doesn't matter whether it is in the Hunger Games or this film, Lawrence is not afraid to take out anyone in her way!

Sir Ian McKellen, once again, enters the X-men universe and is not prepared to hold back (the usual Magneto). Next to him is Blink (Fan Bingbing), whom can teleport. If I could teleport, I would never leave my bed for more than minutes at a time....oh what a life that would be!!!

Here, we have a young Xavier ( James McAvoy) conversing with his older self (Patrick Stewart returns to the movie franchise) across time.....yes it is slightly complicated! I could really use someone with Xavier's brain power.....exams would have been a breeze!

The terrible trio.....Jackman, Fassbender and McAvoy make this action film all the better! The conflict between the three characters adds drama and ensures the characters are developed and not lost amongst fast-cut and franticly edited scenes.

There are plenty more mutants in this film, all with captivating abilities that are executed perfectly in CGI and the special effects. If you have yet to see this film, ensure you wait until the very end to watch the 'secret' credit scene. The storyline alluded to, promises to be even better...if not apocalyptic....
